If you’ve been to McDonald’s this week, you’ll have noticed the menu has changed, with several fan-favourites returning.

The menu switch-up saw the Big Tasty and Double Big Tasty make a comeback, for the first time since Christmas 2025.

While some are thrilled to be able to order the beloved burger again, others have been complaining that there’s been a ‘change’, and it’s fair to say they aren’t very happy about it.

In posts on Reddit and TikTok, customers have claimed that the burger has gotten smaller, saying: ‘The Big Tasty is no longer big anymore’.

A few dubbed it some kind of ‘scandal’ and felt they were being ‘robbed’, but most just said they wanted to know what was going on.

Metro put the question to McDonald’s, and here’s what they had to say…

The fast food chain confirmed that the size of the Big Tasty has changed, but they stressed that this change wasn’t made recently.

The size of the burger was actually altered in November 2025, when the Double Big Tasty was first introduced.

The launch of the Double followed feedback from customers who said they wanted ‘more choice’ when it came to size.

So, McDonald’s made the Big Tasty slightly smaller and created the Double for those who wanted a bigger burger.

The Double is bigger than the OG ever was, and the differences are reflected in the pricing – £6.29 for the Big Tasty, and £7.99 for the Double.

A spokesperson for the chain said: ‘We’re always listening to our customers and evolving our menu to reflect their feedback. They told us they love their McDonald’s favourites but want more choice on size, so we’ve delivered.

‘Our iconic Big Tasty now comes in two sizes – first launched last November – and is perfect for every appetite, with the double now providing more Big Tasty than ever before!

The size wasn’t the only part of the Big Tasty that changed in 2025.

For the first time since it launched in 2003, the Big Tasty patties were upgraded to a quarter pounder size.

What’s more, the emmental cheese was swapped out for white cheddar, and the square lettuce slices were replaced with shredded lettuce.

Finally, a toasted quarter-pounder bun was also introduced to make sure everything fits inside.

A single Big Tasty features a British and Irish beef quarter pounder patty, two slices of white cheddar cheese, lettuce, onions, tomato and Big Tasty sauce, all inside a toasted sesame-topped bun.

Those ordering a double will then get an extra patty as well as an additional third slice of cheese.
