The time has almost come for one of the most celebrated crime dramas of recent years to return for season 5.

The release of the latest episodes of Apple TV Plus’ acclaimed Slow Horses brings even more excitement this time around, considering a seventh outing has already been confirmed.

Boasting a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the spy thriller led by the legendary Gary Oldman also features cast members including Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, and Christopher Chung.

In the trailer for the fifth season, Diana Taverner (Kristin), the deputy director general of MI5, declares that she’s putting Slough House ‘into lockdown’, shortly before viewers discover that an incident has left 11 people dead.

The incident in question appears to involve tech-savvy former hacktivist Roddy Ho (Christopher), who insists that he hasn’t been compromised.

Five days after it was released, the trailer for season five – which launches on Apple TV Plus on Wednesday September 24 – had already garnered 3.3 million views on YouTube.

‘The fact that Gary Oldman hasn’t won any awards for this performance is criminal,’ one user called @locuas99 commented on the video-sharing platform.

‘One of television’s best shows about a group of outcasts that we don’t have to wait two to three years to see the next season. Can’t wait to be “surrounded by losers misfits and boozers” again,’ @davidfilmexpert said.

Satirical superhero series The Boys became an immediate success when it premiered on Amazon Prime in 2019.

So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the spin-off Gen V has followed suit, with season one boasting a sensational critics’ score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Just like its predecessor, the first season of Gen V features an array of shocking scenes… including one character accidentally killing her own parents with her period blood in the opening episode.

What's the chronological order of The Boys and Gen V seasons?

If you want to binge The Boys and Gen V in chronological order, this would be the timeline to follow:

The Boys season one The Boys season two The Boys Presents: Diabolical The Boys season three Gen V season one The Boys season four Gen V season two

The trailer for season two has accumulated over eight million views on YouTube since it was posted a month ago – so it’s clear there’s a huge outing for its return.

‘Just Finished Season 1 of Gen V. Can’t wait to see Season 2 of Gen V! I’m so excited!’ @quentinjackson32226 commented.

‘I’m rewatching The Boys again. I’ll stop in season three, then Gen V season one, The Boys season four and then this new Gen V season. It’s gonna be so diabolical,’ @lincoln2324.

The new season is also bound to be an emotional watch for fans following the unexpected death of Andre Anderson actor Chance Perdomo, who died in March last year, aged 27, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Where to watch: Gen V season two will premiere on Amazon Prime on Wednesday September 17. The first season is also available to stream.

‘Best show ever created.’

This is how one fan of Alice in Borderland described the sci-fi thriller series on Reddit. We couldn’t ask for a stronger recommendation than that.

The Reddit user, named @Terrible-Tap9660, continued: ‘Who else thinks that this show is literally the best show in existence right now?

‘I know it’s not exactly as successful as Squid Game but the quality of Alice In Borderland is unlike anything I have ever watched before.’

The Japanese show, which premiered on Netflix in 2020, is based on the manga series of the same name, which was written and illustrated by Haro Aso.

After going to space in season three, where could The Morning Show go next? (Picture: Apple TV+/Erin Simkin)

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon have had a tumultuous relationship throughout the first three seasons of The Morning Show, playing news presenters Alex Levy and Bradley Jackson, respectively.

But now, in season four, it appears the two women could find some common ground, so that they can do things differently to the men who have been in charge in the past.

‘The fundamental centre of the show really is these two women’s impact on each other, kind of like Wicked, where they ideally change each other for good,’ showrunner Charlotte Stroudt told TV Insider about the new episodes.

Up Next

Since the start, The Morning Show has reflected several real-life events, including the MeToo movement and the impact of Covid-19 on the TV industry.

Sure, they might have raced off to space in season three – but as absurd as some feel that storyline was, it’s not exactly unrealistic considering the space tourism flight that took place with Katy Perry in April this year.

Even if some viewers think the series has become too far-fetched, we have a feeling they’ll still be tuning in for season four when it comes this month.

Where to watch: The Morning Show season four will premiere on Wednesday September 17 on Apple TV Plus. The first three seasons are also available to stream.
