
A Battlestar Galactica alum has joined Marvel’s upcoming Vision series cast in a role that remains under wraps. The Disney+ project, created by Terry Matalas, continues the story of Paul Bettany’s android hero after the events of WandaVision. The actress joins an ensemble that also features James Spader returning as Ultron and several new additions portraying human versions of classic AI characters.
Mary McDonnell joins Marvel’s Vision series cast
Mary McDonnell has joined the cast of Marvel Television’s Vision series in an undisclosed role. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the actress, a two-time Academy Award nominee, will appear in the Disney+ project, though details about her character remain under wraps.
Mary McDonnell gained recognition for playing President Roslin in Battlestar Galactica. She later appeared in The Fall of the House of Usher. She earned Academy Award nominations for Dances With Wolves and Passion Fish.
McDonnell’s film credits also include Scream 4, Donnie Darko, Independence Day, and Sneakers. On television, she starred in Major Crimes and Grey’s Anatomy. She also received Emmy nominations for The Closer and ER.
Series creator Terry Matalas, who worked on Star Trek: Picard, serves as showrunner for the project. Paul Bettany returns as Vision. James Spader reprises his role as Ultron. Emily Hampshire joins as a human version of E.D.I.T.H., the technology Tony Stark created and later passed on to Peter Parker in Avengers: Endgame. Orla Brady plays F.R.I.D.A.Y. James D’Arcy also returns as Edwin Jarvis.
T’nia Miller takes on the role of Jocasta, described as “cunning, powerful and driven by revenge.” Faran Tahir returns as Raza, the leader of the Ten Rings, and reports indicate that Ruaridh Mollica plays Tommy Maximoff, also known as Speed.
Marvel positions the Vision series as the third installment in a trilogy that began with WandaVision and continues in Agatha All Along. The production wrapped filming over the summer, but the premiere date remains unannounced.
