The Marvel Cinematic Universe has changed a lot since the first Iron Man movie. Many characters that were once a part of the first few phases have either been sidelined or are no longer involved in the franchise, which can happen to just about any Marvel project, not just films. Sometimes, it can't be helped, especially if the actor is no longer available.
