Peacemaker Season 2 showrunner James Gunn has confirmed a major Superman cameo in the John Cena-led series. In a recent interview, the DC Studios co-CEO teased what is to come in the follow-up edition of the Peacemaker series, disclosing that a character from Superman will soon feature in the critically acclaimed show.
James Gunn says ‘one more character from Superman’ will appear in Peacemaker Season 2
In an interview with Collider, James Gunn revealed that Peacemaker viewers will “see one more character from Superman” in the coming episodes. However, the Guardians of the Galaxy director did not reveal the identity or any recognizable traits of this mysterious personality.
Gunn also confirmed the advent of yet another character in the conclusive moments of Peacemaker Season 2, but did not specify if it would be someone from his Superman movie or a completely new DCU character altogether. The veteran filmmaker simply stated, “There’s also one really big appearance by somebody in the end of the season that I don’t think people will see coming.”
Many have reportedly theorized that Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor could fulfill one of the aforementioned cameos. Considering that Peacemaker Season 2 involves a heavy dosage of multiversal travel, and that the Top Trio’s armor shares an uncanny resemblance with that of Luthor’s soldiers, the idea of Hoult’s appearance in the installment seems plausible. Other notable shouts for the Peacemaker Season 2 cameos teased by Gunn include Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and Superman himself.
At the time of writing, the ongoing edition of the Peacemaker has already featured Hawk Girl, Guy Gardner, Maxwell Lord, and Rick Flag Sr., all of whom had much to do in the Superman movie. With three episodes still to go, only time will tell which DC characters will chime in for a cameo in Peacemaker Season 2.
