MAJOR. Talks Love, Legacy, and Being a “Hope Dealer” on The Morning Hustle
Soul singer MAJOR. brought his signature energy to The Morning Hustle, opening up about music, marriage, and message. His wedding classic “Why I Love You” remains one of the most requested wedding songs across the globe, cementing its place as a soundtrack for Black love everywhere.
MAJOR. also talked about joining the One Voyage Cruise, sharing a playful history lesson on how far the culture has come from “boats” to luxury cruises. He introduced his new single “May This Moment Never End,” calling it his fresh love anthem and a follow-up to the magic fans already adore.
On love itself, MAJOR. kept it real: healthy love is reciprocity. “If I’m the only one giving and I receive nothing in return, that’s not love,” he explained. One highlight was flying to Jamaica to sing Tiny down the aisle during her vow renewal with T.I. Their son, Major Harris, even introduced him on stage.
MAJOR. revealed he vets couples before performing at weddings, turning down big money if the relationship isn’t a genuine love story. He also explained why he calls himself a “soul singer” instead of squeezing into gospel or R&B boxes, refusing industry labels.
The conversation turned serious around his open letter to the Grammys after “I Prayed for You” was moved from Gospel to CCM, sparking real change at the Recording Academy. He celebrated the Soul Train Awards returning home to Chicago, and shared his petition to perform.
MAJOR. got emotional recalling a 2020 text from the late Chadwick Boseman that inspired him to keep being a “hope dealer.”
