Mack consumed by hate as Charity turns his life upside down in Emmerdale but Dr Todd shock follows

Mackenzie Boyd’s (Lawrence Robb) entire world has been turned upside down following multiple confessions by Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) in Emmerdale.

Charity braced herself to tell Mackenzie everything following a conversation with Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) on Tuesday. The newcomer helped Charity see that being honest with her loved ones would be best, because keeping all of the secrets was destroying her.

She was utterly terrified, but Charity knew that Serena was right.

Charity told Mack that she had things that were ‘rotting’ inside of her, and that she needed to get them out. She began by telling her husband about sleeping with Ross Barton (Michael Parr) last year, the move that ultimately began her web of lies.

Next came the reveal that baby Leyla isn’t actually Sarah and Jacob Sugden’s (Katie Hill and Joe-Warren Plant) child. Mack was distraught and overwhelmed at how much bad news Charity was throwing his way.

At one point, he left the house and spotted Sarah outside. He very nearly told her about Leyla, but returned to Jacobs Fold and confessed to Charity that he couldn’t bring himself to do so.

All of this was an awful lot for Mack – but it wasn’t over. Charity alluded to the fact that she had something else to share, and then revealed that she was raped.

Mack made the assumption that Charity was attacked by a man, and was absolutely staggered when she confirmed that it was actually Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker). The other secret that Charity told Mack was about Doctor Todd blackmailing her. She had shared every single piece of information that had been eating away at her and after, she didn’t know how to move forward.

Mackenzie told Charity that he can still hate her for everything that she’s done, but also recognise that she’s in desperate need of his support. He sat beside her and said that while Sarah needs to know about Leyla, their focus needs to be on Doctor Todd for now.

He told Charity that the police need to know about Caitlin’s blackmail efforts.

Charity is absolutely terrified to take the leap and tell DS Reid (Angela Lonsdale) because it increases the chance of other people finding out about Leyla as well.

Despite this fear, she knew in her heart that she needed to share this information to increase the chance of Doctor Todd being convicted.

Charity wasn’t going to keep these secrets forever.

Everything has changed between her and Mackenzie, but with Sarah and Jacob still in the dark about Leyla, and Ross being unaware that Mack knows – this nightmare isn’t over.
