Long-Awaited PS5 Exclusive Making an Appearance Soon – Report

Insomniac Games‘ highly anticipated PS5 exclusive, Wolverine, is reportedly ready to be shown. The last time gamers saw the game was when it was announced during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase.

Insomniac’s Wolverine will reportedly be at the next PlayStation State of Play

According to Insider Gaming, Wolverine’s next appearance will be during the next PlayStation State of Play at the end of September. Sources told the outlet that the game will “almost certainly” be at this presentation, with the trailer already finished. However, if it does not end up appearing during this unannounced event, Insider Gaming claims it will “undoubtedly” be shown during this year’s Game Awards in December.

It is still uncertain when Insomniac’s Wolverine will finally release for PS5. Back in June, a PlayStation presentation showed a slide featuring six fiscal years, beginning with FY21, along with the “tentpole” titles of those years. At the very end of that timeline was an “upcoming” section, which showed Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and Wolverine. As some probably guessed, this means the game is slated to release sometime after FY25.

While official footage of Wolverine has been under wraps, some footage leaked in June of last year, giving players a glimpse of combat and traversal. This seemingly did not faze Insomniac, and in a response to a fan who asked about an update, the company’s official X account said, “We’ll share news when the time is right, and the right time isn’t now.”

Insomniac has been busy during the PS5 generation. The developer launched Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales alongside the PS5 in 2020. In 2021, it released the critically lauded Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. In 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launched for the PS5, bringing more iconic villains, like Venom and Kraven, to Insomniac’s Spidey universe.

The last PlayStation State of Play, which aired this month, focused on 007 First Light from developer IO Interactive.
