Leonardo DiCaprio reveals plans to ‘slow down’ after dominating Hollywood for decades

Leonardo DiCaprio has revealed plans to ‘slow down’ with his career, having worked solidly over the last few decades.

The 50-year-old has been in some of the most iconic flicks of recent years, including Titanic, The Wolf of Wall Street, Inception, Shutter Island, the Departed and Catch Me If You Can.

After a lengthy wait, he has finally achieved a career goal of working with director Paul Thomas Anderson, with their new film, One Battle After Another, set to be released on September 26.

Shedding light on his plans for the future in a chat with People Magazine, he declared: ‘I’m slowing down a bit.’

Movie fans can rest assured that Leo isn’t planning to step back entirely, but instead choosing to be picker with the projects he does pick up.

The Django Unchained star made his Hollywood debut in the early 90s, and has barely had a break from our screens since then.

Despite featuring in some huge projects, he previously confessed that his biggest career regret was rejecting a role in 1997’s Boogie Nights with Paul, instead choosing to appear in Titanic.

Thankfully, the filmmaker didn’t hold it against him and they have finally teamed up on One Battle After Another, alongside Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Benicio del Toro and Teyana Taylor.

The synopsis simply reads: ‘When their evil enemy resurfaces after 16 years, a group of ex-revolutionaries reunites to rescue one of their own’s daughter.’

‘When these opportunities come up, I mean, I can’t say no,’ he told the outlet of their collaboration. ‘I think anytime would’ve been the right time, to be honest.

‘Ever since I met Paul early on and I saw Boogie Nights, I’ve been an obsessive fan of his work, watched all his movies.

‘His films ruminate in my mind and they’re conversation pieces with my friends, they last.’

‘Awards can come and go,’ he added. ‘Accolades, box office can come and go, but those pieces of art, that you still talk about and still think about and still question.

‘Those are the films that we strive for as an actor. And Paul is the dude of our generation that does them.’
