“Kyrie & I Will Probably Never Speak” – Stephen A. Smith Narrates Shocking Details On Personal Beef With Irving Family

1 week ago 1

Stephen A. Smith never shies away from his real opinion. The consequence is that Smith has had many public feuds in the past. However, none has gained as much notoriety as his feud with Kyrie Irving did. It all started when the face of ESPN raised questions about Irving’s work ethic, including his missing multiple games over the years. However, things got more personal as Kai’s father also got involved in the beef, spewing hateful comments.

In a recent podcast, Smith narrates the details of his ugly spat with Kyrie Irving and his family. The First Take host said, “Kyrie and I probably never speak again in life, and that’s fine, but I ain’t got nothing but respect for the brother because he’s doing what I wanted all along him to be on the court showcasing how marvelous he is as a basketball player instead of finding one excuse after another to miss work.”

He further added, “So when you miss work and you’re still getting paid, but an audience out there doesn’t get to see you put your marvelous skill sets on display, I have an attitude about that.” In the end, Stephen A. mentions the spat with Kyrie’s father, saying, “But when it got personal, which is where it’s my fault, not his, my fault, his father got involved, and there was a text exchange between me and his dad that I felt was personal and I felt crossed the line. That was when it got personal, not before then that.”

Is there any truth to Kyrie Irving’s “missing work” narrative?

When Kyrie Irving plays on the hardwood, it’s nothing short of witnessing magic. However, in the last five seasons, Irving hasn’t played consistently, if put together. This season, Kai mustered up 58 games due to an injury, missing 24 games. Similarly, last season, he didn’t play 22 games. The last time Kyrie Irving played more than 70 games, he was still with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Despite playing only 58 games this season, Irving took on the weight of the Mavericks when he returned. Initially, the Mavs were in the play-in spot but made it the 5th seed thanks to Kai’s magic, with help from Luka Doncic, of course. The duo is currently battling it out with the LA Clippers in the first round, and the series is 1-1. So, maybe if Dallas manages a Western Conference final appearance, he can silence these “missing work” allegations.
