The dispute over the inheritance of the late industrialist Sunjay Kapoor's property worth about Rs 30,000 crore has intensified in the family. The Delhi High Court has now intervened in this matter and demanded transparency. The root of the dispute is a will, which came to light about seven weeks after Sunjay Kapoor's death. According to this will, his entire personal property has been given to his third wife Priya Sachdev Kapur. However, this document is not yet legally registered. It has been argued on behalf of Karisma Kapoor that this will was hidden from the children and they have not been given full information till now.

What did Delhi High Court say about Sunjay Kapur's will case?

The court has ordered that the will and the list of the entire property till June 12, 2025 be presented in the court. Senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, on behalf of Karisma Kapoor's children, said that this case is not about the benefits related to the RK Family Trust, but it is to secure the rights of the children in their father's personal property.

What is Sunjay Kapur's property controversy?

An important issue in the case is also of Rs 1,900 crore. Priya Sachdev Kapoor said that Karisma Kapoor's children have already received a benefit of Rs 1,900 crore from the RK Family Trust. But this has been denied by Karisma. She said that this figure is based only on the value of Sona Comstar's shares and the children have no direct right over these shares. Jethmalani told the court that even if the total assets are worth Rs 30,000 crore and the children have received a share of Rs1,900 crore, still more than Rs 28,000 crore worth of assets is going to Priya. In such a situation, it is important that all the five legal heirs of Sunjay Kapoor get equal rights.

Priya Sachdev Kapoor's lawyer has rejected all the allegations. He said that Sunjay Kapoor's last wish is clearly written in the will, and it is a matter of respecting his wish. They say that the children have already received a good share from the RK Trust, and now it is unfair to question the will. However, it also came to light in the court that Sunjay Kapoor's children have not yet been given a copy of the will and information about the entire property.
