John Oates is taking a page from his own reality TV playbook. After his stint on The Masked Singer’s 10th season, the Hall & Oates icon turned a standout moment from the show into inspiration for his new album, Oates. He recently reflected on how The Masked Singer influenced his album, referring to this turn as Anteater as "weird." His reality TV moment was also marked with a playful nod to his hit “Maneater," and he performed it three times before being unmasked in the Group C semifinals. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer described the experience as strange but ultimately motivating. “After having done The Masked Singer and surviving that weird experience, I just said, ‘Well, got to record it now and put it on the record,’” he explained to Entertainment Weekly, sharing how "Walking Memphis" ended up on the album.
