The last few years have come up all Zach Cregger, who has done more than enough to prove himself as one of the most formidable horror directors in the world. Back in 2022, Cregger teamed up with Justin Long for one of the most underrated horror movies of the decade, Barbarian, which grossed $46 million at the box office against a $4.5 million budget — it’s not every day a film earns 10x its production cost at the global box office. Cregger followed Barbarian the only way he knew how: by delivering yet another iconic horror movie with Weapons. The 2025 film was so well received that it even earned Amy Madigan an Oscar for her performance as Gladys. Horror is often overlooked at the Oscars, so it was a historic moment to see the villain in a horror movie win Best Supporting Actress.
