It took some time after he took over the studio, but James Gunn’s DCU is officially off to the races. The first project set in the new universe came at the end of 2024 with Creature Commandos, the hit animated show that was renewed for Season 2, though it’s unclear at this time when the sophomore season will be released and how it will fit into the wider story. Following Creature Commandos was the DCU’s debut feature film, Superman, which introduced David Corenswet as Clark Kent and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, both of whom are expected back in Man of Tomorrow next year. The first live-action DCU TV show also came last year with the long-awaited second season of Peacemaker, starring John Cena as Christopher Smith and a host of other returning and new stars.
