Jackie Chan’s Next Action Comedy Revealed With Release Date Update & More

Jackie Chan’s next action comedy has been revealed, with new details emerging about the project’s production timeline and creative direction. The upcoming film brings together a familiar collaborator while introducing a different kind of on-screen dynamic for the veteran star.

Jackie Chan to star in Pawfect Agents

Jackie Chan and director Leo Zhang have joined forces for the action comedy Pawfect Agents, while Cappu Films will handle international sales and pre-sales and introduce the project to buyers at Hong Kong FilMart, Variety reported exclusively.

Zhang directs and produces the live-action and CG hybrid feature. He builds on his previous credits, including Fox Hunt and Bleeding Steel, while LinKEY Sanxing Film and Shangjia Film partner on the project’s development and production.

The story follows a veteran agent nearing retirement. He returns to the field after an international theft operation targets the Sanxingdui Golden Mask. He then teams up with a technologically advanced spy dog for a chase across continents from Europe to China.

“What makes the film unique is that Jackie Chan steps into an entirely new kind of partnership. Unlike many of his classic films, where he teams up with human partners, this time his allies are a group of animal agents brought to life through a blend of live-action and CG,” Zhang said.

Pawfect Agents starts production in September

The film will begin production in September.

Artist Li Erpeng designed the film’s CG animal universe. His work has appeared in international exhibitions, including Art Basel, and in the collection of Sydney’s White Rabbit Gallery.

The production team secured access to the Palace of Versailles and the National Museum of Qatar in Doha. It also completed a scan inside the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles for virtual image assets. This marks the first time a Chinese production has received such access.

“At Cappu Films, we are always looking for stories that combine high entertainment value with global appeal,” said Janice Woo, noting the project’s international collaboration and planned worldwide theatrical release in summer 2027.
