Intriguing PS5 Action Game Gets Free Demo, No PS Plus Required

Another day, another PS5 demo added to the PS Store. This time around, it’s for an upcoming action game from developer Perfect Random.

Upcoming PS5 action game Sulfur gets free demo on PS Store

The upcoming PS5 game Sulfur has a free demo available to download on the PS Store right now. Described as a “fast-paced FPS roguelike,” the trailer announcing the demo showcases “almost everything” that can be played in the demo. Check out the trailer below to get a glimpse of what to expect.

As mentioned in the PS Blog about the Sulfur demo, players will be able to pick from over 20 unique weapons and use “strange scrolls” to modify them. For example, players can transform a revolver to fire 12-gauge shells or an SMG to fire railgun bullets. Between bouts, players will also be able to cook food with their gathered ingredients, which will give players bonuses for their run.

Beyond enemies, item management becomes part of the challenge, as the bag doesn’t have enough room to carry everything. Players will have to choose what to bring for a run, and possibly make some tough choices if they find new gear to use.

“Plan ahead to outsmart enemies and progress through a world of dark creatures and cunning evil,” reads part of the game’s description on the PS Store. “Utilize playful and tactile weaponry in visceral and intense combat. Make creative builds with weapons, equipment, tools and enchantments to aid your quest. Be a gun-blazing risktaker or carefully plan out strategies. There’s plenty of playstyles – the choice is yours.”

A release date for Sulfur has not been announced yet. When it does inevitably launch, it will be available for PS5.
