The Fast & Furiousfranchise is one of the most successful in modern cinema history. In total, the franchise has earned just shy of $7.5 billion in total revenue across 21 years and 11 movies, making for an average of $680 million per film. This is all the more impressive considering the opening title in the franchise, 2001's The Fast and the Furious, made just $206 million worldwide, which dropped as low as $157 million for the third installment. However, come 2015's Furious 7 — and largely due to the sad death of star Paul Walker during production — a Fast & Furious movie was earning over $1.5 billion in global revenue.
