Though he is back in the news thanks to his new Netflix mystery The Thursday Murder Club, Chris Columbusis best known for making family-friendly films that genuinely appeal to audiences of all ages, and aren’t just tolerated by adults. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Home Alone were two films that proved to be breakout hits that launched franchises and created young stars, and it was due to the compassion and diligence that Columbus showed behind-the-scenes that they are still remembered so fondly. Although he started his career helping to co-write '80s classics like Gremlinsand The Goonies, Columbus made his directorial debut with the underrated teen comedy Adventures in Babysitting.
