Splitsvilleis one of the funniest comedies of the year, as NEON’s crowd-pleasing farce offers hilarious insights on how hard it can be to define the rules of a relationship. Director and co-writer Michael Angelo Covino and Kyle Marvin star as the best friends Carey and Paul, respectively, who have both reached a difficult point in their marriages. Carey learns that his new wife Ashley, (Adria Arjona), has been unfaithful to him and is preparing to leave him altogether; Paul is in an “open marriage” with his younger wife, Julie (Dakota Johnson), but begins to have anxiety when she begins developing feelings for someone else. Although the film is crude and shocking in all the best ways, Splitsville has a fight scene that rivals many of the year’s biggest action films.
