Sunjay Kapur, the ex-husband of Karisma Kapoor, died in June of this year. Even though the entire family attended the businessman's funeral, a court dispute has already broken out over his Rs. 30000 crore fortune. Samaira and Kiaan, Karisma's children, have petitioned the Delhi High Court for a portion of their father's assets. The children have also accused their stepmother, Priya Kapur, of altering their father's will, according to a report in Bar And Bench. The children, represented by Karisma, have claimed that Priya has unfairly denied them access to their father's fortune.
Priya named sole heir in Sunjay's estate row
The lawsuit names Priya Kapur, her minor son, Sunjay's mother Rani Kapur, and Shradha Suri Marwah, the alleged will executor, as defendants. This legal dispute stems from Sunjay's March 21, 2025, will, which purportedly leaves his whole personal wealth to Priya.
Heirs allege will conspiracy
Samaira and Kiaan have pleaded that Priya shared the will with the family on July 30, 2025, after conspiring with two accomplices, Dinesh Agarwal and Nitin Sharma, to conceal it.
According to Bar And Bench, the suit states, "The Plaintiffs submit that the purported will allegedly executed by the Plaintiffs' father is not a legal and valid document, is forged and fabricated and in any event surrounded by suspicious circumstances. It is for this reason that neither the original of the Alleged Purported Will has been shown to the Plaintiffs nor a copy of the Alleged Purported Will has been provided."
Court urged to freeze Sunjay's assets
The children have requested that the Court formally acknowledge them as their father's Class I legal heirs. They want that their father's assets be divided by the court so that each of them receives one-fifth.
To prevent anything from being sold or transferred until a final decision is reached, Samaira and Kiaan have also asked the court to temporarily freeze all of Sunjay's personal assets.
