It’s no secret that sci-fi movies are among the most popular for fans, whether they're searching for something worth a trip to the theater or simply looking for something on streaming to watch on a Friday night. Sci-fi has a way of capturing audiences and transporting them to a world beyond their own — this becomes more and more enticing as the world around us descends further into madness. Last year, visionary director James Cameron brought back his ultimate sci-fi franchise for its third (and hopefully not final) installment, Avatar: Fire and Ash, which is soon to begin its streaming run on Disney Plus. Fans of sci-fi TV have also had a run of saying goodbye in recent months, as Netflix ended its flagship sci-fi series, Stranger Things, and Prime Video did the same with The Boys, as well as canceling its two-season spin-off, Gen V.
