Zoran Nasteski admits that he has watched too many action movies.

But when a man on his EasyJet flight from Luton started shouting about having a bomb and holding a mobile phone – he was simply fed up.

As other passengers froze in fear, the 49-year-old Serbian national calmly undid his seatbelt, got up out of his seat and strode towards the man.

‘If I’m going down you are going down first you pr***’, he said to himself.

Pulling the man towards him and onto the floor, the lorry driver tried to get his mobile phone away from him, fearing it could be used as a potential detonator.

Recalling the moment he first noticed the man, he told Metro: ‘Suddenly he is passing me and he had this coffee cup.

‘I was watching him curiously, he was kind of clumsy during the turbulence. I was only hoping he would not spill it on me.

‘Then he got to the stewardess behind me and he started shouting.

‘I come from a country where there have been wars.

‘I really hate it when people threaten to blow up the plane and shout Allahu Akbar, ranting about Trump or whatever.

‘Everyone was shocked. I get up, I was thinking to grab him down and remove the phone from his hand.

‘I think I watch too many movies. I was thinking it could be a detonator or something – I don’t really know. It was just a normal reaction.

‘I was scared but also not thinking about myself. I was thinking “OK you pr*** if I go down, you go down first.”’

Pulling him down, he sat on his chest and spread his arms wide, shouting ‘Stay down mother****er’ in Serbian.

‘I think it confused him’, he said. ‘He gave up straight away. I had someone else, a good guy called Jimmy sitting on his legs.

‘I was keeping his hands still so he couldn’t do anything. He gave up immediately.’

Despite the loud commotion, the front half of the plane was unaware of the threat until after they landed nearly 30 minutes later.

He said: ‘It was the first time landing when I wasn’t sat with a seatbelt on, I was straddling this man.

‘It was probably better the front of the plane didn’t know – it could have been panic stations.’

Asked if he had any military experience to help him tackle the suspect, he said: ‘I was in the army but only ever as a chef. I have never done anything like this.’

He added: ‘There were perfect people all around me, a mother and her daughter sitting next to me were amazingly nice. The plane was full of good people except the pr***’.

Despite his heroism, the former Amazon delivery driver said he would have to leave his home in Grays, Essex after his girlfriend, brother and sister had their visas rejected to join him.

Zoran, who has lived near London for a decade, is finishing his exams on his business development course and then returning to Serbia in under a month.

But for now, he is still in on holiday in Scotland where he was flying to enjoy the historic pubs.

Zoran says he is constantly trying to stop his friend from blagging free pints on the back of his act of heroism, asking barkeepers: ‘Don’t you know who he is?’

His departing message to the UK? ‘Just love each other and respect yourself.’
