Managing Hulu profiles has become a more technical necessity as the platform nears its full absorption into Disney+. As part of “Project Gemini,” Disney expects to decommission the standalone Hulu app by the end of 2026, meaning the profiles users create and adjust now are increasingly being managed within a unified Disney+ ecosystem.

Current Hulu accounts allow for a total of seven profiles: one primary profile and up to six additional ones. These profiles are used to segment watch history, personalize recommendations, and maintain individual “My Stuff” lists for different members of a household.

How to Add and Edit Hulu Profiles

The process for adding profiles depends on the device, though the account-wide limit of seven remains constant across all platforms.

On Web Browsers: Hover over the name in the top right corner and select “Manage Profiles.” From here, you can click “Add Profile” or select an existing one to edit its name, gender, or birthdate settings.

On Mobile Devices: Tap the “Account” icon in the bottom right, then select the profile name at the top to open the “Switch Profile” menu. Tap “Edit” to modify existing ones or the plus (+) icon to create a new one.

On Living Room Devices: Navigate to the “Profiles” or “Settings” menu from the main navigation bar. This interface allows you to add new users or toggle specific settings for existing ones.

Hulu also allows for “Kids” profiles, which restrict the library to child-friendly content. To prevent younger viewers from switching to adult profiles, users can enable PIN Protection. This requires a four-digit code to access any non-Kids profile or to create new ones.

The Transition to Disney+ and Project Gemini

For subscribers who use the Disney Bundle, these Hulu profiles can now be linked directly to Disney+ accounts. This linking ensures that watch history and algorithmic recommendations appear within the Disney+ interface, which is scheduled to become the sole home for Hulu content by December 2026.

Users should be aware that while watch history can be moved to a new subscription via profile transfers, there are limitations. Primary profiles, profiles for users under 18, and those designated as Kids profiles are currently ineligible for transfer.

Household Restrictions and New Pricing

The ability to manage profiles is now strictly tied to a single “Hulu Household.” Following recent policy changes, Hulu has implemented a ban on sharing subscriptions with individuals living outside the primary residence. The only supported method for sharing with someone in a different home is through an “Extra Member” add-on, similar to the model used by other major streaming services.

These management changes arrive alongside a significant price adjustment implemented in late 2026. As of October, standalone Hulu plans are priced at $12.49 per month for the ad-supported tier and $21.49 per month for the ad-free tier. For those utilizing the service as a cable replacement, Hulu + Live TV plans have increased to approximately $99.99 per month.
