The sci-fi thriller series “From” has claimed the top spot on Netflix’s most-watched television list in the United States. Following its addition to the platform through a licensing agreement between Amazon MGM Studios and Netflix, the series reached No. 1 on October 28, 2026.
While the show has built a loyal following on its home network, MGM+, its arrival on Netflix has introduced the production to a significantly wider audience. This surge in popularity follows a pattern where licensed content from premium cable or smaller streaming services gains mainstream visibility after appearing on the platform. The series was originally produced for MGM+, the service formerly known as Epix.
The series utilizes 'mystery box' storytelling executive producers who worked on 'Lost'.
A Creative Connection to ‘Lost’
Much of the series’ appeal to sci-fi fans stems from its creative lineage, which shares significant DNA with the mystery-drama “Lost.” Harold Perrineau, a veteran of the “Lost” cast, stars as Boyd Stevens. The production also features executive producers Jack Bender and Jeff Pinkner, both of whom were key figures in the development and direction of the ABC hit.
Consistent with the “mystery box” storytelling format popularized by its predecessors, the show relies on dense mythology and atmospheric dread. This approach has helped the series maintain high critical ratings and a reputation as one of the more effective entries in the modern sci-fi horror genre.
Streaming Availability and Season 3 Access
According to current rankings on Netflix, “From” is currently outperforming both original and licensed competitors in the U.S. market. However, the licensing deal does not include the entire series. Netflix currently hosts only Seasons 1 and 2, allowing new viewers to catch up on the first 20 episodes of the mystery.
For viewers who finish the first two seasons and wish to watch the most recent developments, Season 3 remains an exclusive for MGM+. Season 3 recently concluded its initial broadcast run on MGM+ in late 2026, and the platform remains the only place to view those episodes. This distribution strategy is often utilized by studios to drive new subscriptions to their proprietary services by leveraging the reach of larger platforms to build a fan base.
The series’ rise to the top of the charts highlights a continued demand for serialized, high-concept thrillers that emphasize character-driven mysteries and long-term world-building.
