Hit Netflix TV Show Announces New Lead Actors for Upcoming Season

A hit Netflix show has announced the new lead actors for Bridgerton’s upcoming fifth season.

Netflix has revealed that Hannah Dodd and Masali Baduza will be the leads in Bridgerton Season 5. Dodd and Baduza will reprise their roles as Francesca (née Bridgerton) and Michaela Stirling, respectively. Season 5, which is based on Julia Quinn’s When He Was Wicked, is now in production.

In Bridgerton Season 4, Francesca’s husband, John (Victor Alli), tragically dies. John’s cousin, Michaela, promises to stay with Francesca but leaves Mayfair at the end of the season. Season 5 will see the two characters rekindle their connection.

“The fifth season of Bridgerton spotlights introverted middle daughter Francesca (Dodd). Two years after losing her beloved husband John, Fran decides to reenter the marriage mart for practical reasons,” the season 5 synopsis reads. “But when John’s cousin Michaela (Baduza) returns to London to tend to the Kilmartin estate, Fran’s complicated feelings will have her questioning whether to stick to her pragmatic intentions or pursue her inner passions.”

Bridgerton’s Season 5 video announcement includes a brief teaser featuring Francesca and Michaela lovingly staring at one another before reaching for each other’s hands.

Jess Brownell serves as the showrunner and executive producer. Additional executive producers include Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen. Season 5 will film in London and consist of eight episodes.

The Bridgerton announcement comes on the heels of Season 4, which depicted the romance between Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). Season 4 was based on Quinn’s novel An Offer from a Gentleman.

Bridgerton remains one of Netflix’s most popular shows. Since premiering on January 29, 2026, Bridgerton Season 4 has been in Netflix’s global top 10 for seven weeks.
