HBO's Harry Potter won't be able to hide from the darkest, grittiest scenes of the books, and that's truly fantastic news. The upcoming TV show has been divisive for a whole variety of reasons, including a general frustration that the Harry Potter books are being adapted to the screen yet again, despite the existing film franchise. Still, it shouldn't take long for HBO's series to prove itself. If the new Harry Potter is as book-faithful as it's supposed to be, then it will eventually be thematically unrecognizable from the films.
