Arabella Stanton has a story to share about her first audition for Hermione Granger. The Harry Potter star shared the throwback as HBO promotes its upcoming series.

Stanton revealed that she was just 10 years old when she first auditioned for the role. She has since landed the role and will play Hermione in HBO’s upcoming adaptation.

Stanton responded to HBO’s casting reel on Instagram. She wrote, “So funny looking back to my 1st audition when I was 10 and before I started recording the audiobooks – time flies!” Her comment offers a glimpse at how long her journey with Hermione has been.

Stanton’s audition appears in Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic. The special takes viewers behind the scenes of the casting process and shows some of the young actors who auditioned for the new series. It also gives fans a closer look at how HBO found its new Golden Trio.

Arabella Stanton’s journey as Hermione has only just begun

Stanton’s audition provides an early look at her approach to Hermione. She performed “Invictus” during the process before moving on to a scene that allowed the casting team to see her playful side. The audition footage also captures Stanton getting the giggles during the scene.

The casting team watched more than 40,000 auditions while searching for the new Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Stanton eventually secured the Hermione role, with Dominic McLaughlin cast as Harry Potter and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley
