Two more Square Enix games are on their way to the GOG Preservation Program as Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 will join the roster. Product pages for both games are now live. However, each only only notes it is “coming soon” and doesn’t mention the October 8, 2026 release date. The first game will be 70% off at launch, and the second’s launch sale price will be 60% off. [Thanks, Resetera!]

As a reminder, the Octopath Traveler series involves HD-2D, turn-based JRPGs. The gimmick is that there are eight heroes, each with their own story and class. As you build up the game, you can multiclass. The second game also added some quality of life additions such as increased interaction between the eight main cast members.

Since Octopath Traveler 1 and 2 will be GOG Preservation Program games, it means they’ll be continually updated to remain playable and relevant. The company already noted both are Windows 11 verified. Also, as with all GOG games, they are DRM-free. Both titles already appeared on PCs via storefronts like Steam and Epic Games Store.

This news comes after both games just showed up on another platform. Square Enix brought both to the Switch 2. Those just launched on the system those week and are immediately available. There’s no launch sale in effect though, so they are $59.99 each.

Octopath Traveler is on the Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and PC, and Octopath Traveler 2 is on the Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
