Glen Powell’s Disastrous Remake Is a Huge Hit on New Streaming Home

The 2025 movie The Running Man is receiving renewed attention after making its debut on a new streaming platform. Led by Glen Powell, the remake has quickly entered the streaming charts in the United States and is outperforming several well-known movies. The film has also continued to maintain strong viewership across multiple streaming services months after its original release.

The Running Man becomes a big success after coming to Prime Video

The Running Man has found major streaming success following its arrival on Prime Video. According to FlixPatrol, the Glen Powell-led remake ranked sixth on Amazon Prime Video’s Top 10 chart in the United States on May 7, 2026. The film outperformed several notable movies on the platform, including Bang, The Equalizer, Crime 101, and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

The movie has also continued performing well on MGM+, where it ranked fifth on the platform’s U.S. Top 10 chart on May 6, 2026. Before arriving on Prime Video and MGM+, The Running Man previously streamed on Paramount+, where it also recorded strong viewership numbers.

Helmed by Edgar Wright, The Running Man debuted in theaters across the United States on November 14, 2025. The remake stars Powell in the lead role as Ben Richards, an ordinary man pushed into a deadly television competition while trying to provide for his sick daughter. Set in a near-future world, the story follows contestants trying to survive while being watched by millions.

Alongside Powell, the film features performances from Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, Michael Cera, and Lee Pace. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds a 61 percent score from critics. Meanwhile, the audience rating stands at 77 percent. However, it performed poorly at the box office, generating a worldwide gross of roughly $69 million against a reported budget of $110 million, as per Variety.
