In a candid new interview, the A Song of Ice and Fire author confirms that The Winds of Winter — and its planned follow-up, A Dream of Spring — will feature major character deaths, some of which directly diverge from the HBO series’ controversial finale. And yes, that includes characters fans may have assumed were “safe” after the show wrapped.
