After the recent General Hospital storyline saw Jason helping out Rocco, he was taken away by the WSB, marking the start of the character’s absence from the show. Steve Burton, the actor playing Jason, originally thought he might stay on the soap well into April, but he confirmed in a recent podcast appearance that his arc is done for now. Moreover, the actor listed two ways Jason’s arrest in the soap opera could end.
Steve Burton lists 2 ways Jason’s arrest in General Hospital could end
In his recent appearance on the That’s Awesome With Steve And Bradford podcast, Steve Burton dissected his character’s recent arc that involved him being taken away by the WSB in a van.
“I wasn’t sure,” Burton admitted during the discussion, adding, “because a lot of times when we get the script, there’s multiple shows in that script. But the day of the air of the show, at the time, said April 2nd. So I thought maybe I was trickling into April.”
Jason was whisked away in a van, convincing fans that he was done for. “I remember you telling me, ‘The last thing I know of is that I get taken away in a van,’” the host recalled. Burton responded, “That’s is, that’s it. We’re done.”
With no specifics mentioned, Burton claimed that Jason will be back in the summer. But this does not ensure that Jason will be back normally. Carly and Valentin’s conversation about breaking Jason out has Burton convinced that Valentin will help the cause.
“I think there’s a mutual respect there [between Jason and Valentin] to some degree,” he said, “We’ve had enough interactions where I know what he’s capable of. And he probably knows what I’m capable of. And then you put Carly in the mix…then you’ve got anti-Brennan [sentiment] also in the mix.”
Burton went on to give two alternatives about his story arc. He said, “They’re setting me up to be a fugitive.” Further, he talked about a second scenario, “But they’re also setting it up, I think, that there could be a resolution. Because they know I didn’t shoot Cullum, and that’s why I was arrested.”
So, as it stands, things could go either way for Jason, but he will not be around in General Hospital for a while going forward.
