Kelly Thiebaud was ‘afraid’ to return as Britt in General Hospital

It’s been over two years since Kelly Thiebaud exited General Hospital as Britt Westbourne. Her character had an on-screen death, leaving her fans saddened about her exit. But after a recent appearance on the show, fans got just what they wanted.

In an interview with Woman’s World, Thiebaud revealed that she’s hesitant about returning to the show. She said, “I knew if I did come back, I didn’t want to play Britt’s evil twin or another character.” She continued, “I wanted it to be Britt and initially, I didn’t think that that was going to be possible—because we did choose to kill her off! I was also kind of afraid to open that door again. Will the magic still be there?”

One of the storylines that kept fans wanting more was the relationship between Britt and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton). The show was setting up their romance, but it was cut short before Burton’s exit from the show in 2021. “Steve and I had a wonderful conversation, and we both felt like there was a lot of unfinished business we wanted to explore,” Thiebaud shared.

“We gave viewers something that started to become interesting, exciting, and maybe romantic… and then it got taken away from everyone,” the actress admitted. “We want to give that back to them.”

Now that both Britt and Jason are back on the show, Thiebaud admits that she was happy to reunite with her co-star and talks about their future.

“The first day I saw Steve on set, we gave each other a huge hug and I felt at that moment, ‘This is going to be a really fun ride,’” Thiebaud shared. “But who knows if we will go on this ride together?”
