Some lives changed in a very big way in the August 25 episode of General Hospital! Cody (Josh Kelly) confessed to Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and Ava (Maura West), Drew (Cameron Mathison) made a move that left Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) fuming, Jason (Steve Burton) failed to get through to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), Ric’s (Rick Hearst) arguments with Kristina (Kate Mansi) and Ava put his life in jeopardy, and Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) family and friends came together to say farewell as she left Port Charles. Here’s how it all went down…

Sex Sells

Molly was stunned to walk in on a shirtless Cody making out with Ava. She tried to make a graceful exit, but Cody insisted on stopping her to explain. Molly snarked that it was pretty clear what was going on, but she was stunned silent when Cody confessed that he’d done it for her.”You did what for me — Ava?” Molly snarked. He insisted that he wasn’t actually into Ava and revealed that he was being paid. Molly was disgusted that Kristina had been right and he was a gigolo, but Ava interjected that not only had she not paid Cody for sex, there hadn’t even been any sex.

Cody explained that Kristina had paid him to get Ava away from Ric because Molly hated the vixen being with her father, so in a way, he had done this all for Molly. Ava demanded clarification that she was hearing him right, and Cody admitted that was the whole sordid story. Storming out, Ava said she’d deal with Cody later and told him to have fun with “high and mighty” there. After insisting to Molly that it had been all Kristina’s idea, Cody hesitantly suggested that it had kind of worked. Molly was appalled that he thought she would be grateful. He said he was just hoping for some forgiveness, but she told him not to do her any more favors and took off.

Order Up

Alexis joined Drew at the Port Charles Grill, pleased that he had reached out. She’d heard about his conversation with Molly, which hadn’t gone well, and hoped cooler heads would prevail so they could all support Scout. Drew insisted he only wanted what was best for his daughter, and Alexis tried talking him up, saying Scout was lucky to have such a devoted dad. He plastered on a fake smile as the attorney suggested that there were times other family members could step up to help him, but the grin turned very genuine when a process server arrived to present Alexis with a restraining order to keep her away from her granddaughter. Drew explained that the rest of the family was being served with the same papers. “Nothing will stop me from protecting my daughter,” he barked. “Nothing. Now the law is gonna make sure of it.”

Alexis didn’t understand why he’d gone to such extremes, and Drew reminded her that she’d made it pretty clear she was going for custody of his daughter, and thus, he wanted to protect Scout from her bad judgment. “You see, Alexis?” he sneered. “I’m not the problem here… you are.” Drew noted that Sam had made it clear in her will that she wanted Scout and Danny with him, but Alexis argued that she’d written that a long time ago, before she knew Jason was alive. When he accused her of always shielding Jason, the thug, and now Danny, whom he called a “thug in the making,” Alexis had had more than enough. She slammed her hand down on the table and angrily told him to shut up. “You are not gonna fight your battle with your brother through those children,” she declared. “Because I simply will not stand for it.”

Alexis continued by calling Drew an abusive parent who was neglecting his own child, which is when Molly arrived and tried to defuse the situation before it got even worse. But Alexis wasn’t backing down, promising to fight Drew with everything she had. Drew smugly wished her luck, noting she was an alcoholic who only recently got her law license back, and declared she wouldn’t see Scout again until she was 18 — if she still remembered her grandmother… or if Alexis was even still alive.

Furious, Alexis declared that he’d be the one to be forgotten. “Because when I am through with you, it’s gonna be like you never, ever existed,” she vowed. “And if Scout ever asks about you, I’m gonna do her a favor and I’m gonna say you’re a good man. Because you aren’t going to be around to prove me wrong.” Molly ushered her mother out of the restaurant before she said anything more, and Drew warned her she would also be served papers. Disgusted by his actions, Molly declared, “You are doing what’s best for you, and Sam would hate you for it. And one day, Scout is gonna hate you, too.” Fed up with the Davis Girls, Drew stormed out.

See No Evil, Hear No Evil

Also at the Grill, Martin and Laura sat at a nearby table where he confided to his sister that he’d made a dangerous enemy in Drew. Laura was taken aback to hear that Drew had sent the state insurance fraud division after Stella. Martin grumbled that he should have expected Drew to do something like this, given his hatred for Curtis, and assured Laura he was no longer working for the corrupt politician. Laura felt that he’d done the right thing, and he was glad to hear that, as he’d have to sponge off her generosity for a bit longer. Noticing the back and forth between Alexis and Drew nearby, Martin hoped that Laura could win her bid for reelection, fearing that if Drew’s puppet, Ezra Boyle, became mayor of Port Charles, it would give Drew even more power. After Alexis’s final outburst, Martin worried she’d made a mistake threatening Drew in public, where people could hear. Grinning, Laura suggested she hadn’t heard a thing, and Martin smiled knowingly.

Goodbye for Now

At the hospital, Lucas broke the news to Mac, Felicia, and Spinelli that Maxie was now officially in a coma, and the hospital wasn’t equipped to give her the long-term care she needed. Spinelli was upset that they were just shipping his Maximista away, but Lucas assured them that he’d worked in a hospital in Boston with an incredible coma care program, and he’d already arranged a place there for Maxie. Spinelli begged Mac and Felicia not to let her go, and Felicia asked Lucas if he was confident this was truly the best place for her daughter. “I can’t think of anywhere she would be better taken care of,” he professed.

Spinelli visited Maxie’s room to tearfully break the news to her about her upcoming change of scenery. He poured his heart out about how much he loved her and how, after thinking that he’d lost his chance to be with her, now that they were a family again, he wasn’t ready for it to end. “So since I know you can’t refuse a challenge,” he ordered her. “Fight, Maxie. Wake up. Come home.”

Felicia called Brook Lynn, who told Lulu that Maxie was going to a coma care facility in Massachusetts. Seeing Lulu look like she’d just been punched in the gut, Brook Lynn assured her it was “not goodbye goodbye. Just goodbye for now.” They both agreed neither of them was ready for this, but headed to the hospital with the kids, where Cody also joined them. Felicia explained the situation to Georgie and took her in to see her mother. Then, Lulu and Brook Lynn promised Lucas they wouldn’t fight and went in to see their friend. They held Maxie’s hand together and told her this was all her doing, promising that they would help take care of Spinelli and the kids so she could focus on coming home soon.

When it was James’s turn, Cody could tell the boy was frightened and quickly claimed he was too scared to go alone, asking James if he could come with him. They went in with Mac, and after Mac’s emotional words to Maxie, James stepped up, unsure what to say. He reminded his mother about the time he broke his arm and how she had given him his father’s police badge. “When I held it, my arm didn’t hurt anymore,” he recalled. “Now it’s going to help you.” After he tucked Nathan’s badge into Maxie’s hand, James leaned in for a hug. “I love you, Mom,” he whispered. Later, the orderlies wheeled Maxie out into the corridor, and Mac expressed his gratitude to Lucas for traveling with her. Felicia said a tearful goodbye, and everyone held each other as they watched Maxie go into the elevator.

Forget Me Not

Britt pushed her way into Jason’s room at the Five Poppies resort, trying to urge him to leave immediately, but Jason wanted to know what she was doing there. She tried to play it off like she was just happily living in paradise with her Huntington’s in remission, but he knew she wasn’t telling him the whole story. When Britt mentioned letting that “piece of Euro trash” climb on him, Jason was intrigued that she was jealous of Greta. Britt dismissively accused him of telling Greta that he was someone she could always rely on, coldly adding that only lasts until Carly calls — then he’s gone in a flash. Jason apologized for how he’d treated Britt and insisted that wasn’t going to happen with Greta, as she meant nothing to him. He explained that she was trying to pump him for information, and he was doing the same to her. Britt warned that was a good way to get himself killed.

Regaining control of her emotions, Britt joked she hadn’t seen any espionage activity during her spa treatments. Jason urged her to leave with him, and she bitterly told him he couldn’t just show up and tell her what to do. He insisted he just wanted to fix whatever was wrong, and when she refused to return to Port Charles, he promised he’d take her wherever she wanted to go. Britt casually wondered if he would come visit her and then put her armor back on, crying, “You’re not helping, Jason. Don’t you see that? It hurts me to see you! When I look at you, all I see is home. You have no idea how hard that is for me. So just go. Forget that you saw me. Forget this ever happened.” She opened the door to leave, but Jason reached out to shut it, and they stood closely for a charged moment, intensely gazing into each other’s eyes. Jason pressed a burner phone into her hand, saying he would leave as long as she promised to call him if she ever needed help. “Better not tell Carly that,” Britt muttered as she exited. Outside, she leaned her back up against the closed door, clutching the phone tightly to her chest and looking distraught.

A Crime of Passion

Ric entered Alexis’s house looking for his ex to discuss business. Kristina spat, “Your business is with me, you son of a bitch.” Ric warned her to watch her temper and suggested her dad should get her on some medication. Sick of his digs, Kristina revealed that she knew all about his blackmailing her mother. Ric taunted her about Alexis always jumping in to clean up her “mistakes,” but added that cutting his brake lines was attempted murder. Kristina argued that she never intended to hurt him or Liz, but Ric reminded her that she had done it to try to kill Ava, so she should have gone to prison. Kristina admitted that what she did was wrong, but argued that she had lost her baby, then she lost Sam, and then her brother almost died, so she wasn’t in her right mind.

GH Rick Hearst Kate MansiDon’t Hold Back: Ric (Rick Hearst) angrily reminded Kristina (Kate Mansi) of how selfish she’d been.

Ric understood, but countered, “But now you have to remember… Molly also loves Michael. Molly also just lost a sister. And that baby that died, also Molly’s. Not that you ever acknowledged it.” As Kristina tried to interject, he grew angrier. “You acted like the grief was yours and yours alone!” he bellowed. “You were so selfish and self-centered you couldn’t even consider what Molly and TJ were going through… after you tried to steal their child and take it for your own!”

Kristina tried to claim that it never happened, but Ric reminded her that there were physical custody papers proving it. As he continued ranting, Kristina turned her back to him and picked up a letter opener from a table, gripping it tightly. Then she regained her composure and set it down before striding across the room. She insisted that Ric was wrong, and he kept trying to pit her and her sister against each other, but they had grieved their loss together, and it brought them closer. Ric was unimpressed, even as Kristina rationalized that she didn’t turn herself in to the cops because she didn’t want to hurt Molly. And now she didn’t want her sister knowing her father had blackmailed her mother.

At that moment, Ava arrived looking for Alexis, and Ric snarkily informed her she wasn’t at home and she was too late anyway. Ava informed Ric that they’d both been played because Kristina had hired Cody to drive a wedge between them. Kristina haughtily admitted it, refusing to apologize for trying to stop them from blackmailing her mother. When Ava complained she should have just gone to the cops in the first place, Kristina called her a “hateful, soulless, murderous bitch” who should have been in that car.

Ric interrupted to announce that the blackmail was officially over. He informed Ava that the amount of money they were draining wasn’t sustainable, especially with her spending habits, adding that he’d not only frozen her accounts, but drained them as well. Ava argued that it was a divorce settlement she was entitled to, but Ric boasted that he couldn’t return the money because it was tied up in treasury bonds — and when they matured in a month, he’d have all her money, plus interest. Enraged, Ava screamed that he’d betrayed her, and Ric countered that she had betrayed him first. As he moved to leave, Ava picked up a small globe from a shelf and clonked him in the back of the head with it! He fell to the floor, blood in his hair, right in front of a stunned Kristina.
