The January 13 episode of General Hospital was full of intense moments! Carly (Laura Wright) overheard a damning conversation between Jack (Chris McKenna) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) helped Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) figure out what to do about Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), Anna (Finola Hughes) hatched a plan to flee from her captor, and Ava (Maura West) caught Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) skulking around Wyndemere. Get the scoop on everything that happened below!
Mission Impossible
At Miller & Davis, Alexis unloaded on Diane, explaining that she could no longer defend Willow since she’d learned that her client was actually guilty. After Alexis briefed Diane on the details of what she’d discovered, Diane agreed that the newfound evidence made a compelling argument for mitigating circumstances. However, she warned her friend that if she came forward, the judge would declare a mistrial, and Alexis would be permanently disbarred if she brought any of it up during her closing statement.
Realizing Diane was right, Alexis still wasn’t sure about whether or not to expose Willow because she didn’t want Scout raised by “a would-be murderer who married her victim to cover it up.” Diane countered that doing so would guarantee Drew cutting Alexis out of Scout’s life since he would never believe his wife was guilty. She asked her friend whether ethics or her granddaughter’s future was more important, and when Alexis answered that Scout was her priority, Diane replied that Alexis knew what she had to do.

Sidwell asked Jordan to attend the trial and report back on Drew’s behavior, since he was beginning to think that the congressman wasn’t the right politician he needed in D.C. When Sidwell added that he felt someone else might better serve in Cain’s seat, Jordan pointed out that Drew’s gig was an elected position and he couldn’t just pick Drew’s replacement. She was taken aback when her boss declared that he typically got what he wanted.
Missing Person
Accompanying Michael to the courthouse, Jacinda worried that her presence would create bad press for him, but he assured her that he wanted her by his side. Nina eavesdropped as Dante asked Brennan if the WSB tampered with the PCPD’s evidence, but then Ava arrived to offer her friend support. Jack played dumb about the missing evidence, but Dante said that, as a former agent, he knew the organization could hack systems and wondered why the WSB wanted Willow acquitted. Catching Nina’s gaze from across the corridor, where she was speaking with Ava, Brennan told Dante that the WSB had no interest in Willow’s fate and suggested that Drew had someone destroy the evidence. Agreeing that was possible, Dante snarked that the WSB had a bad habit of poaching from the PCPD — like Anna randomly being sent away on assignment with no notice. Swearing that he had nothing to do with that decision, Jack said he hoped that Anna would come home soon. Meanwhile, Nina sighed to Ava that despite everything Drew had done, Willow wasn’t ready to let him go.

Inside the courtroom, Curtis told Trina that he was there to hear closing arguments for business reasons, because if Willow was cleared and the focus turned to Michael, the negative effects could ripple down to Aurora. When he wondered why she was there, since neither he nor her mother was under suspicion, Trina replied that she was there to support Kai. Just then, Jordan entered. After exchanging pleasantries with Jordan, Trina excused herself to find Kai, and Jordan remarked to Curtis that it seemed like his daughter was accepting them as a unit.
As Willow continued her innocent act, Drew tried to calm his wife’s nerves by reassuring her that the jury would acquit her. She hoped that, if she was cleared, the family court judge would grant her visitation, and when Drew professed that she’d be given full custody once Michael went to prison, Willow replied that it would be a dream come true. Next, Drew got bent out of shape when Suzanne arrived without Alexis, and Willow worried about why her attorney was running late. As the courtroom filled up, Kai and Trina also noticed that Alexis hadn’t shown up yet and wondered if she’d actually believed what they’d told her the previous evening.

Meanwhile, Dante told Justine that Brennan had denied any WSB involvement in their missing evidence, but he didn’t fully believe him — but Dante also acknowledged that it could have been Chase who tampered with the file. Justine instructed the acting commissioner to find out where the leak was and shut it down. Drew tried to reach Alexis on the phone but reported to Nina and Willow that he’d gotten her voicemail. Willow then groused to her husband and mother that she couldn’t believe Michael had shown up with Jacinda, and Drew proclaimed that it was a smart move on Michael’s part since the best thing to do when you were guilty was hold your head high and proclaim your innocence.
Closing Time
Finally, Alexis arrived, seconds before Judge Sullivan entered the courtroom, but didn’t speak to Willow or Drew. First to make her closing statement, Justine informed the jury that Willow had shot Drew not as a crime of passion but as premeditated attempted murder and laid out all of the reasons why Willow had motive, means, and opportunity to shoot the man responsible for her losing custody of her children. Next, to Trina and Kai’s dismay, Alexis proclaimed her client’s innocence while painting Michael as a more reasonable suspect. However, at one point, Alexis slipped and said “Willow had every opportunity…” before correcting herself and restating that Michael had every opportunity and reason to shoot Drew” — prompting a confused reaction from Justine.

With closing remarks concluded, Judge Sullivan dismissed the jury to deliberate. Curtis and Jordan agreed that they were glad they weren’t members of the jury as they exited the courtroom. Michael mused to Jacinda that, since Alexis had focused more on feelings than facts, it would come down to whether or not the jury felt sorry for Willow — and he hoped for his kids’ sake that they saw Willow for who she really was. Trina fretted to Kai that Willow might get away with attempted murder, and after Drew crowed to his wife that she would walk out of the courtroom a free woman, Alexis turned around and looked at Kai and Trina.
Dante praised Justine on her closing remarks, but the acting D.A. wasn’t convinced she’d delivered a slam-dunk case. Drew raved to Nina that Alexis not only argued brilliantly on Willow’s behalf, but essentially got Michael convicted — and his wife would have her children back, exactly as he’d promised. When Willow thanked Alexis for representing her, the attorney said it wasn’t over yet, especially since juries could be unpredictable. Nevertheless, Willow continued, she was hopeful because Alexis had given her the best defense possible. “And if I go free, it will all be because of you,” Willow stated, leaving Alexis conflicted over whether she’d done the right thing.

Warning Label
At G.H., Marco pressed Britt about the lack of progress on their research, and she griped that it was his father’s fault they’d fallen behind, since Sidwell had killed Dalton, plus they needed a new lab. When Marco informed her that they’d created a state-of-the-art lab on Spoon Island so they could closely supervise her, a frustrated Britt contended that not only would her constant presence be suspicious to Lucas, but Marco’s relationship would be over if the doctor figured out what he was involved in. Shaking his finger at her, Marco warned Britt to stay away from Lucas and never use his boyfriend to threaten him again. Apologizing, Britt next asked how she’d even get back and forth to Spoon Island undetected, so Marco suggested she take up permanent residence at Wyndemere. When Britt balked at the idea of just disappearing from her life, Marco reminded her that they had the medicine she needed, so she should come up with a cover story to account for her time.

Search Party
Valentin asked Carly to search Brennan’s hotel room, hoping she’d find intel on Sidwell that they could use to expose Jack. At first, she refused, claiming that if she was caught, they’d lose any chance of bringing him down since their entire plan hinged on Jack trusting her. She also figured that Jack would hide things at his office, but Valentin shared that Jack didn’t trust anyone, and he’d be even more apt to hide information in his room, especially after Colette had turned on him. But after Valentin’s jab that she could keep sleeping with the man she despised, Carly agreed, but wasn’t thrilled when Valentin declared that he was going to stake out Sidwell and Spoon Island while she was gone.
Soon, Carly used her key card to enter Jack’s room at the Metro Court and eventually found an envelope secured underneath a drawer in the cabinet. She quickly took photos of the documents inside with her phone, but as she was putting the folder back, Carly heard Jack and Britt arguing outside the door and hid in the bathroom. Panicking when Jack entered the room with Britt, Carly grabbed a robe and began undressing. She then overheard Britt inform Jack that his plan for her to pass Sidwell’s data along wasn’t going to work.

Woman On Top
Back at Wyndemere, Pascal arrived at Anna’s room with her breakfast. As usual, she went into the corner, but then turned around and faced the butler as she sat on the couch. Picking up the cup of water, Anna dropped the glass and claimed there was something wrong with her hand. Explaining that numbness was a symptom of her rare blood cancer that required regular phlebotomy treatments, which she’d missed while being held captive, Anna informed Pascal to tell his bosses that she needed treatments because she’d be no use to them if she were dead.
In the Wyndemere den, Pascal filled his boss in on Anna’s claim that she was ill, and Sidwell informed him to keep an eye on things for the time being. Returning to Anna’s quarters, Pascal looked through the window to see her passed out on the floor. He entered the room, gun drawn, but when he crouched down next to Anna, she flipped him over. They struggled for the pistol, with Anna eventually getting control of the gun!

Tunnel Vision
Ava arrived at Wyndemere, and she and Jenz flirted before he escorted her to his study for a video call about some artwork he was interested in purchasing. Meanwhile, Valentin successfully snuck onto Spoon Island and into Wyndemere’s living room. He was looking for the button to open the secret passageway when Ava caught him. Declaring that she got rid of the trigger, Ava asked Valentin if Jenz was aware he was harboring a fugitive.
Uninvited Guest: Ava (Maura West) was surprised to see fugitive Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) in Sidwell’s home.ABC
