Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) murder trial kicks off next week in Coronation Street, but she’s not the only one at risk of spending time behind bars.

Gary Windass’ (Mikey North) fate is also set to be decided, and next week he tells Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) that he’s been given a date for his hearing.

Viewers will know that Sarah called Gary for help after killing Theo Silverton by hitting him with a metal bar.

With Sarah panicking, Gary took over and helped her to cover up the crime by disposing of the murder weapon.

Eventually, he came clean about his involvement, and Sarah confessed to killing Theo in self-defence.

Now, Gary is set to find out what the future holds for him, and next week he sits Jake Windass (Bobby Bradshaw) and Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) down to prepare them for the worst.

As Gary admits that he may be sent to prison, the boys get upset.

The next day, Gary’s news continues to affect Jake as he gets in trouble at school for fighting.

Back at the flat, Jake rails at Gary, blaming him for putting Sarah first and insisting that he doesn’t care about his family.

Later, while Gary and Maria are at the Rovers, Jake packs a bag and sneaks out.

When Gary finds that Jake’s bed hasn’t been slept in the next morning, he calls Jake’s mum, Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Hoston), who reveals that Jake stayed with her for the night.

She explains that Jake has decided he doesn’t want to stay with Gary anymore, leaving him shocked, and he only grows more upset when she later arrives to collect Jake’s belongings.

Eager to change his mind, Gary meets up with Jake in the café and begs him to come home. Unfortunately, Jake is stubborn and asserts that because Gary chose to put Sarah before his family, he won’t be coming home.

Maria tries to reassure Gary that Sarah won’t let him down, and he’ll avoid prison and have Jake back home before he knows it.

Will things work out that way?
