Zubeen Garg's sudden death has left many questions unanswered. The famous Assamese singer tragically passed away on September 19 while attending a cultural event in Singapore. It was reported that he died while swimming at a yacht party, and the official post-mortem report there confirmed drowning as the cause. the Assam government wasn't satisfied with the findings and ordered a second post-mortem. They also set up a Special Investigating Team to look deeper into the circumstances of his death. Zubeen's wife, Garima Saikia, his sister, Palme Borthakur, and his uncle, Manoj Kumar Borthakur, have now filed a complaint with the Assam CID, asking for a more thorough investigation.
Manoj, Zubeen's uncle, spoke to the media, saying, "We want a full investigation into the situation surrounding his death." In response, a senior police officer confirmed that they had received the complaint and were currently reviewing it. The CID team even visited Zubeen's home in Guwahati to meet with the family and take their statements. They're now gathering more information to understand what happened that night.
An FIR has been filed against two people related to Zubeen, his manager, Siddharth, and the organizer of the event, Shyamkanu Mahanta. The SIT and CID raided their homes on September 25, recovering various items like a pendrive, hard disk, and documents for further examination. They also searched the home of Zubeen's colleague, musician Sekhar Jyoti Goswami.
Both Siddharth and Shyamkanu have been asked to appear before the CID in Guwahati by October 6. If they fail to comply, strict actions will be taken, as confirmed by Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Zubeen Garg, who was loved by many, was cremated with full state honours in his hometown of Kamarkuchi village on September 23.
