David Hyde Pierce is set to return to NBC with a new sitcom. However, it is not a project fans might be very excited about, as it is missing one key detail.
Pierce’s new NBC show has nothing to do with his other hit sitcom series, Frasier. Instead, it is a whole new IP coming from veteran producer Marco Pannette, as reported by Deadline.
Pannette has had a slew of comedies to his name, including Caroline In the City. While the show only ran for four seasons, it aired in the same era as Frasier, rubbing shoulders with some of the most iconic comedy series in Hollywood.

Written by Pennette, the sitcom is set to star Pierce in a lead role, playing a man who discovers how little he has reflected on his life and the consequences that have now caught up with him because of it. Pierce, along with Pennette, will serve as executive producers.
NBC seems to be looking to expand its slate of multi-camera comedies. The untitled Pierce-led project will join the already-on-the-air show Happy’s Place, along with the upcoming Newlyweds, which is set to debut this fall.
However, before his sitcom can begin making audiences laugh, Pierce has more than a few projects lined up for the year. First, the actor is going to star in Kelly O’Sullivan and Alex Thompson’s Mouse, which is locked in for a fall release. He is also set to appear in Vivien & the Florist, with Carla Gugino and Matthew Modine.
Pierce is best known for his 11-season run on Frasier, where he played Dr. Niles Crane. The role earned him 4 Emmys and 11 nominations. The announcement of a sitcom series from Pierce led some fans to expect that a Frasier-related project could be in development, and even close to release. However, there has been no such update for now.
