Frankyeffe: “Techno Became a Mantra in My Life”

Frankyeffe reflects on two decades of evolution, his passion for techno, and what to expect from his Dreamstate performance this November.

Techno veteran Frankyeffe has been immersed in the scene for more than two decades, and he’s hungrier than ever.

The Italian DJ and producer has built a career on restless curiosity, chasing new cultures and sounds across the globe. For him, techno is not a formula but a mode of pure artistic expression, a wide-open space for emotion, creativity and individuality to run free.

“What I’ve kept from the artist I was back in 2001 is, above all, the passion and the curiosity to keep learning, growing, and discovering new things,” he told EDM Identity. “Of course, a lot has changed over the years. Today, compared to the younger artist I was back then, I feel much more mature, both artistically and technically as a producer. I have a much clearer idea of what I want to create and where I want to take my music. I’m also much more confident in myself and in my artistic choices.”

After so many years in this industry, you learn what really represents you and what you want to say through your music. But that curiosity is still there. I think that’s probably the most important thing I’ve carried with me from 2001 until today: the desire to keep evolving without ever losing the passion that made me start in the first place.

Over the years, Frankyeffe has witnessed the scene shift through changing genre trends, emerging sounds, and a new generation of artists. Rather than settling into one particular lane, he continues to gravitate toward the sound that resonates with him most.

“It’s constantly evolving, almost every day. I think that, today, we have many different directions within the scene,” he said. “There’s the house side, which has never really disappeared and is still very much in fashion. Then there’s the harder side of electronic music, with faster BPMs and a much more intense approach. And then, in my opinion, there’s a new wave of melodic music, trance, and more emotional electronic sounds. That’s the direction I feel closest to today. It’s where I feel I’m finding myself the most as an artist, and it’s the sound that fascinates me more and more.”

As Frankyeffe keeps drawing on the scene’s evolution, his performances around the world put him in front of different environments and communities. Traveling has given him new opportunities to see the music, and himself, differently.

“Recently, my trip to Taiwan really left a strong impression on me. It was a completely new culture and a new audience for me, and I was really struck by the energy of the people there,” he said. “More recently, I also played at Outside World in Germany, and that was a very special experience. The audience was really prepared and open to the kind of music I’m bringing at the moment, and I felt a very strong connection with them.”

For me, techno was a form of pure art. I wanted to experiment with it as much as possible because I saw in techno a constant sense of evolution and progression. It pushed me to keep exploring, to discover new sounds and new ways of expressing myself through music. I never wanted to see it simply as a genre; for me, it became a way of thinking and a way of approaching music. In many ways, techno became a mantra in my life. It taught me to be curious, to experiment, to never stand still and to always look for the next step. And I think that mindset is still a big part of who I am today, even though my music has evolved in a different direction.

That openness to different influences feeds directly into his own music. His latest release, “Raver’s Delight,” is a euphoric, high-energy collaboration with RAM. The track harkens back to the trance sound that first opened the door for Frankyeffe as a young producer, while capturing how his artistry has grown since then.

He said, “The live version I made with RAM really reflects the sound I’ve been developing since 2022, starting with tracks like “Save Me” and “Touch Me,” continuing with “Kill Me,” and everything I’ve been doing up to today. In a way, it’s a connection back to that world — the sound that opened the door for me into the trance world and helped me discover a new side of myself as an artist.”

“Raver’s Delight” is very energetic, but at the same time, it becomes melodic and emotional. I really like that combination because I feel that these two elements can work perfectly together. Energy and melody are two different sensations, but in my sets, I want them to go hand in hand. That’s exactly the feeling I want to create when I play: a lot of energy, but also moments that can really connect with people emotionally.

The release also speaks to what Frankyeffe ultimately wants his music to leave behind. For him, the impact goes beyond the production itself — the feeling it creates matters just as much as the sound.

“As an artist, I want people to perceive Frankyeffe as someone who plays music to create emotions and deliver a lot of energy,” he said. “That’s always my goal when I play: to make people feel something, and hopefully create a moment they will remember. That’s what I’m looking for every time I step behind the decks — not just to play music, but to leave people with an emotion and a memory. I hope I can achieve that every time I play.”

Frankyeffe looks bring that philosophy into a busy run of upcoming performances across Europe and North America. He has tour stops in Germany, the Netherlands, Panama and the US. The lattermost date sees him touch down at Dreamstate SoCal, which he teased will feature a special collaboration onstage.

“I’ll be doing a live performance with a vocalist, where we’ll present a new single that will be released on the very same day I play at Dreamstate. So it’s going to be a very special moment for me,” he said.

With new music and live performances on the horizon, the rest of 2026 promises plenty more for the fans to be excited about. Looking ahead to his Dreamstate performance, Frankyeffe said, “It’s going to be a very special moment for me. I’m preparing as much as I can, and I really hope I can live up to the expectations and, most importantly, enjoy every second of it. I want to go there, give everything I have, connect with the crowd, and simply have an amazing time.”
