Forgotten Island Post-Credits Scene Status Revealed After 100% RT Reviews

DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island arrived in theaters with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, but fans want to know if there’s a reason to stay after the credits. Here’s what audiences need to know about the film’s post-credits scene status.

DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island does not feature any post-credits scenes. Instead, the animated film, based on Philippine mythology, wraps up its story entirely before the credits roll. Universal Pictures released the movie in the United States on September 25, 2026.

The film follows best friends Jo and Raissa on an adventure through the mystical world of Nakali. Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado wrote and directed the feature. Ultimately, the story concludes with Jo becoming a successful graphic novelist who visits Raissa at college. Their magical bracelets still allow them to return to Nakali anytime they wish.

Meanwhile, Forgotten Island features an ensemble voice cast led by H.E.R. and Liza Soberano. Dave Franco, Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, and Lea Salonga round out the main cast. Additionally, Jo Koy and Ronny Chieng lend their voices to supporting characters in the film.

The film draws heavily from Filipino folklore and features creatures from Philippine mythology. These include the Manananggal, Batibat, Tiyanak, Kapre, and Duwende. Furthermore, Crawford and Mercado drew inspiration from their own friendship while developing the project. DreamWorks Animation first announced the film in April 2025.

Notably, the animation style mirrors that of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which Crawford also directed. The film blends computer-generated animation with anime-influenced 2D sequences animated by Manila-based Snipple Animation. Moreover, Nathan Matthew David composed the score after traveling throughout the Philippines to research indigenous music.

The soundtrack features performances by Filipino acts Bini, SB19, and Lea Salonga. Early screenings at CinemaCon and the Annecy International Animation Film Festival generated strong reactions. The film earned a five-minute standing ovation at Annecy and currently holds a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
