The Booster Gold TV show has received some positive news.
DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television are currently developing a Booster Gold DCU television series. The project, which was initially announced in 2023, will focus on the DC character originally who was created by Dan Jurgens and made their official comics debut in 1986.
While Booster Gold was part of the initial DCU slate that James Gunn and Peter Safran announced in January 2023, there hasn’t been a whole lot of news about the project since then. It was reported in July 2025 that David Jenkins had been tapped to write the pilot and serve as showrunner on Booster Good; however, rumors about the show being potentially canceled started to gain traction online after Jenkins allegedly deleted some social media posts related to his involvement with the series.
What is the update on the Booster Gold DCU TV show?
On Threads, Jenkins cleared the air and set the record straight regarding Booster Gold. When asked if there was any truth to the rumors that he had left the Booster Gold pilot that’s being made for the DCU, Jenkins said, “As far as I know it’s still in the pipeline.”
That answer doesn’t offer any kind of update about when Booster Gold will start taking some bigger step forward when it comes to development (technically, Jenkins doesn’t even say he’s still involved with the project), it, at the very least, gives DC fans some reassurance that the project hasn’t been scrapped altogether. When it actually comes to fruition remains to be seen, as it does not yet have a release date and, despite all the rumors suggesting Kumail Nanjiani is in talks to star in the show, no casting has yet been announced.
Next up for the DCU is Supergirl, which arrives this June, followed by Lanterns and Clayface later in 2026.
