There is a manhunt for gunmen after a man was shot dead in front of children attending a west London peace memorial.

Levi Davidson, 40, was gunned down in front of a crowd of 50 people in Braybrook Street, in Acton at 7.45pm on October 2.

Multiple gunshots were heard from the memorial. Police and paramedics rushed to the estate but Mr Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to establish the cause of death, but Mr Davidson is believed to have suffered a single gunshot wound.

Police urged people to remember whether they noticed anyone ‘carrying or concealing weapons, people on bicycles acting suspiciously, or vehicles being driven at speed’.

One friend posted a tribute online: ‘Honestly it’s just so sad and heartbreaking. Life is treated like it’s nothing nowadays it makes my blood boil. I was only talking to him a few weeks ago when he was down.’

Det Ch Insp Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘Our thoughts are with the family and friends of a man whose life was taken in a senseless act of violence.

‘We understand a large number of people had gathered for a memorial service and what should have been a time to come together in remembrance has instead left a family devastated.

‘We believe between 40 and 50 people, including children, were present when this incident occurred. Someone knows what happened and we need them to come forward.’

Police want anyone who was around Erconwald Street, Braybrook Street, the surrounding roads, or the Wormwood Scrubs playground between 6pm and 8pm to ‘think carefully’ about what they saw.

While the probe is still in its early stage, no arrests have been made.
