The Season 2 finale of a hit CBS series leads this week’s Paramount+ lineup, alongside other exciting new releases.

The 2024 Matlock reboot, available on Paramount+, features Kathy Bates as Madeline “Matty” Matlock. The sharp septuagenarian returns to a prestigious law firm, using the job as cover to expose a corporate opioid conspiracy linked to her daughter, Ellie’s death. It updates the 1986 original with new emphasis on deceit, hidden motives, and courtroom drama.

Matlock Season 2 (2025–2026) intensifies Matty’s undercover mission to hold Jacobson Moore accountable for Ellie’s opioid-related death. Concluding with the April 23, 2026 finale, the season wraps the Wellbrexa cover-up storyline as Matty manipulates Senior (Beau Bridges), while navigating a complex alliance with Skye P. Marshall’s Olympia, who is protecting her ex-husband Julian, played by Jason Ritter.

Additionally, this week’s featured Paramount+ selections include the platform-exclusive Cheech & Chong’s Last Movie. Releasing on April 20, 2026, the nostalgic documentary weaves a road trip narrative with archival footage to trace the five-decade career of comedians Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong. Directed by David L. Bushell, it charts their journey from Vancouver’s improv scene to stoner-comedy icons while exploring their turbulent, at times estranged, partnership.

Another Paramount+ special this week is the new DORA: Magic Mermaid Adventures, sure to delight younger audiences.

In the 2025 special airing on April 22, 2026, Dora and Boots become mermaids when they play a magical charango. They dive into a vibrant underwater world alongside new friends Marisol the Mermaid and her dolphin Rosa, solving problems across 43 minutes of adventure plus a bonus birthday celebration.
