Final Conjuring Movie Shatters Records in Giant Domestic Box Office Debut

Having exceeded expectations to the point that it’s now doubling them — this is virtually unheard of, by the way — The Conjuring: Last Rites stunned competition in its opening weekend at the domestic box office. The horror movie, touted as the final installment of the hit franchise, grossed an estimated $83 million in its first three days of release. It was projected to generate around $40 million only until a couple of days ago, and around $80 million worldwide. Instead, it made $187 million globally this weekend. The Conjuring 4 has not only topped the charts, but it has also delivered the biggest horror debut of the year, and the top opening in the franchise’s history.
