Film fans have been sent into a spin after the first footage from Taron Egerton’s new comedy-thriller was shown at CinemaCon.

As part of Studiocanal’s presentation slate on Monday, audience members in the room got a peek at the first teaser for the London-based movie, called (and brace yourselves) Everybody Wants to F**k Me.

And aside from the, um, eye-catching title, the film, which is due for release in 2027, is also fascinating people with its premise.

For Egerton plays a man who discovers that every woman is stalking him – and also wants to have sex with him.

Reportedly a horror-themed trailer set to Doechii’s Anxiety, which is said to have received ‘a huge positive reaction’ in the room, the film was previously described as a ‘razor-sharp’ dark comedy thriller being set in the world of modern dating.

In a day one dispatches piece, IndieWire also listed Everybody Wants to F**k Me under the ‘best thing we saw’ category from the event, revealing from the trailer that Egerton has ‘mastered the disguise of being the perfect man’, attracting plenty of stares, before discovering that the female population is stalking him ‘like they’re possessed by Aunt Gladys in Weapons’.

‘Cinema is officially unhinged and I’m here for it,’ quipped @flickcinephile on X, while a Redditor added: ‘I’ve never been more excited about one of his projects. He excels at comedy and the promo around it is going to be bonkers! Plus, finally a theatrical release.’

Other fans couldn’t resist joking with this premise that it was, in fact, their own biopic (sigh), or else pointing out the obvious, as per Nala: ‘It’s called “everybody” wants to fuck me but it’s only women who want to? You could’ve done something so good.’

So far, little else has been confirmed about the film, written and directed by Ladhood director Jonathan Schey in his feature-length debut, save for its cast, which also includes Jessica Henwick, Bafta winner Mia McKenna-Bruce, Charly Clive and Herbert Nordrum.

It’s also a co-production with Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap, which gave others high hopes as they ‘trust her’.
