Famous ’90s Comedian Known as ‘Carrot Top’ Hospitalized After Trying to Kill Himself: Report

A famous 1990s comedian has apparently tried to take his own life after dealing with alarming accusations and legal battles over the past several days.

TMZ reported late Friday that Scott Thompson, better known as “Carrot Top,” has been hospitalized in Las Vegas after a suicide attempt.

Sources told the outlet that Thompson was rushed to the hospital following the attempt, and his show at the Luxor in Vegas was canceled as a result.

Further details about Thompson’s alleged suicide attempt were not immediately available.

Thompson’s publicist released the following statement to TMZ:

Mr. Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers, and respectfully ask for privacy.

The alleged suicide attempt comes as Thompson has been accused in recent days by two men of sexual exploitation.

Singer Bryan Adams filed a lawsuit against Thompson, accusing him of not only sending a sexually explicit photo but also making false promises about future entertainment projects and career help.

The second person, Zachary Defazio, claimed in his lawsuit against Thompson that the comedian contacted him through the gay dating app Grindr and sent him an anonymous photo before meeting him at a bar in Winter Park, Florida.

Thompson allegedly provided him with alcohol despite his being under the legal drinking age. Defazio also alleged that during one October 2021 encounter, he was too drunk to consent to sexual activity.

He declared in the filing: “I am a victim of Scott ‘Carrot Top’ Thompson.”

Thompson is best known for his high-energy and eccentric pop acts.

Unlike many in the comic industry, Thompson is also famous for having a clean lifestyle.

“I’m completely sober. I don’t smoke marijuana, and I never have. I don’t think I have been drunk since high school, literally,” he said in a 2022 interview with Metal Life Magazine.

Thompson is not married and has no children.
