Fallout Star Ella Purnell & 2 More Join Scarlett Johansson’s Mysterious New A24 Movie

Fallout star Ella Purnell and two other Hollywood stars have joined a mysterious A24 movie. The upcoming film already has a stacked ensemble led by Scarlett Johansson.

The movie, titled Scapegoat, now features Purnell, Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out), and Samba Schutte (Pluribus). They join a lineup that already includes Johansson, Jacob Elordi, and Jude Law. The update comes from a report by Deadline.

Directed by Ari Aster, the film marks his fifth feature following Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau Is Afraid, and Eddington.

What will Ari Aster’s Scapegoat be about?

Little is known about the upcoming movie so far. The director and A24 have not revealed much about the storyline or characters so far, leaving plenty of room for speculation.

Industry reports suggest Scapegoat centers on a surgeon, played by Johansson, who operates on a character inspired by influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul. However, the surgeon’s life turns upside down when the procedure goes wrong, and eventually the patient dies.

The story will then continue with the consequences Johansson’s character faces following the death. She reportedly faces major hurdles from the antagonists, including the deceased character’s wife and brother. The report claims those characters may draw inspiration from Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk and WWE star and content creator Logan Paul, respectively.

However, neither A24 nor Aster confirmed these plot details. Hence, viewers should treat the plot with caution.

The film serves as the chronological follow-up to the director’s 2025 film Eddington. Aster also writes the script and serves as a producer alongside Lars Knudsen through their Square Peg banner.

Production is also expected to begin soon. According to a new report from Moviedelic, Scapegoat is expected to film in New York State from November 2, 2026, through January 14, 2027.

The movie marks the first collaboration between Aster and Johansson. A24, which distributed Aster’s previous films, is also handling Scapegoat’s distribution.
