Ex-Ravens Star Doesn’t Hold Back on Lamar Jackson & Co. After Disappointing Lions Loss

Monday Night Football brought the excitement to Detroit, but it wasn’t the kind the Ravens were hoping for. The Lions took down the Ravens with a score of 38-30 in a tough match that revealed some weaknesses in a team usually known for its grit. Detroit dominated Baltimore’s defense, racking up an impressive 224 rushing yards and putting the game away with a decisive 31-yard run from David Montgomery. For the proud Ravens defense, it was humiliation in prime time.

Chris Canty, former Ravens defensive lineman, didn’t hold back on ESPN Radio’s Unsportsmanlike. “They got bullied from pillar to post. That never happens in Baltimore, ever,” he fumed. He noted that the 224 rushing yards allowed is the most since 2017 and pointed out that the Ravens were held under 100 rushing yards for the second straight week, a first in Ravens QB Lamar Jackson’s era.

He called out Baltimore’s defensive tackles, Travis Jones, Roger Washington, John Jenkins, and Brent Urban. Saying they were “manhandled by some pups from the Detroit Lions.” He mocked their inability to stop duo runs. “They was making you love it… rubbing your nose in it,” he said. Even All-Pro linebacker Roquan Smith wasn’t spared. “Couldn’t find him last night. Couldn’t see him,” Canty said.

Epic rant here from Chris Canty who calls out specific Ravens one by one…

He also pointed out that cornerback Marlon Humphrey was getting schooled by Amon-Ra St. Brown on a double move. “Let’s go. Touchdown,” he quipped. In his eyes, the Lions “did whatever they wanted,” while the Ravens had “no solutions.” He labeled it “a disgrace for John Harbaugh and his crew.”

Canty didn’t let the offense off the hook either. He criticized Lamar Jackson for holding onto the ball too long. It led to a career-high seven sacks and slammed the offense for failing to score at the goal line. “When you’re at the one-yard line with three chances to score and come away with nothing, that’s just not acceptable,” he said.

He also pointed out that Baltimore got a few lucky breaks. Like running back Derrick Henry’s risky halfback pass that really should’ve been picked off, and a near-interception on Jackson’s throw right at the start of the second half. Yet, they still couldn’t grab the momentum. To make matters worse, Henry ended up with a fumble, adding to the team’s woes.

For Canty, this wasn’t just a loss; it felt like a total embarrassment.

Derrick Henry apologizes after another costly fumble in Ravens’ loss to Lions

Derrick Henry’s helmet took quite a hit from his frustration on Monday night. After fumbling for the third consecutive game, the Ravens running back slammed it against the bench, a moment that left even him in disbelief.

With Baltimore down 28-24 in the fourth quarter, Henry lost the ball at his own 16-yard line when Aidan Hutchinson knocked it loose. Detroit capitalized on the turnover, converting it into a field goal and ultimately sealing a 38-30 victory. For Henry, this was a frustratingly familiar scenario. “Three games in a row, that’s something I’ve never experienced in my career,” he said. “I want to apologize to Flock Nation. I’m going to keep working hard to fix this.”

At 31, Henry is seen as a future Hall of Famer, but he’s been surprisingly bad with the ball lately. Last season, he only had three fumbles, averaging just 2.2 per year over his first nine seasons. This year, he’s already matched that total in just three weeks, including two fumbles in the fourth quarter of losses. “This is tough right now. I’m not going to lie to you all,” Henry admitted.

Despite the struggles, his teammates and coaches are rallying around him. Offensive lineman Roger Rosengarten referred to him as a “gold jacket player,” while coach John Harbaugh blamed Monday’s mistake on a “blind shot.” Henry himself is determined to push through this rough patch: “Adversity is a terrible thing to waste, so I’m just going to keep moving forward.”

Now, with a record of 1-2, Lamar Jackson and Baltimore face a quick turnaround as they prepare to head to Arrowhead to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
