Eric Dane’s Absence From Emmys Sparks Concerns Among Fans

Eric Dane did not appear at the Emmy Awards 2025 despite being scheduled to present at the ceremony. He was also slated to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of Grey’s Anatomy. However, Dane was absent from the ceremony entirely. This has led to concern amongst fans as the actor disclosed his amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) diagnosis months earlier.

While ALS may not explicitly be the reason Eric Dane did not turn up to present at the Emmy Awards 2025, fans are certainly concerned for the actor’s health and well-being. Jesse Williams, Dane’s former Grey’s Anatomy costar, appeared at the ceremony and presented for the Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series category.

Just before the ceremony, Williams spoke of Dane and said he had a wonderful time working with him. “He’s solid, the man’s just solid,” he added. “We have to be careful as men to still take care of ourselves, and he’s got a perfect balance going. That’s my guy,” Williams concluded (via PEOPLE).

Five months ago, Dane publicly revealed that he had been diagnosed with ALS. The award ceremony now takes place after that announcement. Also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, Mayo Clinic describes the disease as, “a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS causes loss of muscle control. The disease gets worse over time.”

Dane, however, revealed that he would want to continue working despite his diagnosis. He previously said that he was glad to return to the sets of Euphoria, and is also continuing with all his other projects.

As for his appearance at the Emmys, or the lack of it, he or his representatives have yet to comment on it. Fans are worried it is due to his health.

Apart from this, a lot went down in this year’s Emmys, with some huge moments and some big wins, too.
