England’s World Cup qualifying campaign continues tonight when they take on minnows Andorra at Villa Park.

After the Lionesses were crowned back-to-back European champions over the summer, the pressure is on for the men to bring football home at the 2026 World Cup.

The Three Lions are well on their way to North America having won their first three qualifying games without conceding a goal and are four points clear at the top of Group K.

However, the arrival of Thomas Tuchel hasn’t heralded the free-flowing, attacking football fans were dreaming of and a terrible 3-1 friendly defeat to Senegal in their last game shows there is much, much work for the German to do.

Here’s everything you need to know about England’s World Cup qualifier against Andorra, including how to watch, latest injury news and predicted line-up:

Latest team news and injury updates

Tuchel has been unable to call on several big names for these qualifiers with Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham and Levi Colwill sidelined.

Adam Wharton and John Stones were named in the squad but have since pulled out due to adductor and muscular injuries, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jarrel Quansah drafted in to replace them.

AC Milan midfielder Loftus-Cheek knows Tuchel well from their time at Chelsea and had long given up on playing for England again having won his last cap back in 2018.

After a tough start to life at Real Madrid, Trent Alexander-Arnold was omitted, as was Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Kyle Walker.

The return of international football feels an appropriate time to hold my hands up and confess it looks like I got it wrong with Thomas Tuchel.

At the time of his controversial appointment as Gareth Southgate’s successor I saw no issue with hiring seasoned winner to replace England’s ultimate nearly-man.

It was obvious, even to his staunchest supporters, that his nationality would prove the easiest and most convenient stick with which to beat him at the first sign of trouble, and so it has proved.

Really, however, Tuchel’s critics would garner far more credit by focusing on the mounting dossier of evidence on the pitch, as well as his increasingly bizarre squad selections, rather than using his birth certificate as some sort of smoking gun.

Thus far, Tuchel has presided over three hugely uninspiring victories, including a pure 1-0 stodgefest away from home against Saturday’s opponents Andorra, as well as a chaotic 3-1 defeat against a rampant Senegal back in June.

The hope must be that once England have navigated the road to the World Cup, as they surely will regardless of any teething troubles, that Tuchel’s big game experience will come into its own.

We’ll likely learn little over the course of the next week about the direction this England side are headed given the level of opposition.

The sight of Jordan Henderson and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, two players who surely should have served their purpose as England players four years ago, teaming up in midfield will do little to inspire confidence and subdue the growing anti-Tuchel sentiment.

Andorra at home is, on paper, England’s easiest match of these qualifiers and as such the head coach may be tempted to experiment with his side, though he’ll likely stick with a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Tuchel has already confirmed that captain Harry Kane will start, while Quansah, James Trafford, Djed Spence and Elliot Anderson will all be hoping to make their international debuts.
