Mackenzie Boyd’s (Lawrence Robb) world was ripped apart after wife Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) came clean with him in Emmerdale.

In one huge hail of bad news, Mack learned his wife had cheated on him, had a baby with Ross Barton (Michael Parr), palmed the baby off as Sarah Sugden’s (Katie Hill), hid the fact she was being blackmailed over said baby’s parentage, and was raped by her blackmailer.

It’s a lot to take in.

While Mack was instantly prepared to spill the beans to Sarah, he had second thoughts and found some empathy for Charity when he realised he too was too chicken to do it.

And when Charity dropped the almighty bombshell that she had been raped, he vowed that though she had completely broken his heart, he could still support her through the worst time of her life.

He has since been trying to get his head around it all, and he’s struggling.

Those are some huge emotions her betrayal left him with, so he paid a visit to vile Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) to confront her about her actions. She instead tried to twist things, claiming Charity is a born liar and can’t be believed.

Though it messed with his head, Mack stood firm.

But now it’s crunch time for him to own his emotions, and he delivers the huge blow to Charity that their marriage is over – there is no way back. He’s always known she has a penchant for lying, but she’s finally found that his limit is having a baby with someone else and palming it off to her granddaughter as her own.

The betrayal Mack is feeling is two-fold – he’s also learned his bestie Ross is a liar. Worse still is the fact they only became besties after Ross slept with his wife, as it transpires.

As Mack laments his doomed marriage, Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) weirdly becomes the voice of reason. Moist cakes and marriage advice seem to be his new things.

He encourages Mack to think before he acts and avoid doing anything stupid. Could Kev save his marriage?
